IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barry R.
Walton
November 11, 2024
Barry R. Walton, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024. Born to the late Arthur L. and Dorothy E. Walton of Lancaster, he was the youngest of four siblings: Arthur, Jane, and Doris Anne.
A J.P. McCaskey High School graduate, Barry answered the call to serve his country as a Sergeant and jet engine technician in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970. After his service, he pursued higher education, earning his bachelor's degree from Millersville University in 1972. He began a fulfilling career in education as a teacher at Manheim Township School District, where he taught for over three decades until his retirement in 2004.
During his tenure, Barry achieved his master's degree from Millersville University and obtained his secondary principal's certificate from Penn State University. He served as Department Chairman and Curriculum Coordinator, roles in which he influenced countless students and colleagues. A dedicated mentor, he also coached the school's rifle team and served as a Technology Student Association (TSA) advisor.
Beyond the classroom, Barry was a man of faith and service. He devoted many years as Head Trustee for Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, where he even contributed as an honorary Laborer for Christ during the church's construction. His volunteer spirit extended to his family life, as he enthusiastically supported his son's swim meets.
A talented wood and metalworker, Barry crafted many beautiful pieces for the home he built himself in 1976. His mechanical aptitude extended to repairing and maintaining cars, a skill he enjoyed throughout his life.
Barry is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Karen Lee Walton, and their son, Ryan Walton. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who cherish his memory.
Barry will be remembered for his quiet strength, boundless generosity, and dedication to faith, family, and community.
