Obituary

Barry L. Sides, 56, of Landisville, passed away peacefully at his home, on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 after a long courageous battle with an illness.

He was the loving husband of Cynthia WentleySides. They celebrated their 20 th wedding anniversary on October 18 th in Bermuda.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Mary Rankin and the late Edgar J. Sides Jr.

Barry worked for Amtrak for 27 years and was a foreman in the signal engineering department.   He was also a former  local chairman of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen.

Barry graduated J.P. McCaskey High School in 1968.  Barry  was an advid birdwatcher, loved the out of doors and a talented gardener.   He volunteered at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary for many years.

Barry was a devoted husband and father and will be deeply missed by his wife and daughters:Laura L. Sides of Lancaster; Dana C. married to Charles Bury of Lititz;.  He will be greatly  missed by his family:  brothers, Edgar J. Sides Jr. married to Diane of Milton Grove; Kevin Sides of Conestoga; his  nieces and nephews and his beloved cats, Paddington, Rocky, and Kitty.

A memorial service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel Inc., 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 2p.m.  Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Barry's memory to the Gift of Life Organ Donor Program, 401 N. 3 rd St., Philadelphia, PA 19123 or the Hospice of Lancaster Co., 685 Good Dr., Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
