Barrett "Barry" C. Caldwell, 75, of Lancaster, passed away June 7, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Katharine S. Caldwell, with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage in April. Born in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Craig and Julia (Myers) Caldwell. Barry graduated from Chambersburg Area High School in 1960 and The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in industrial engineering in 1966. He was a loyal Penn State Football fan and attended the first game held at Beaver Stadium in 1960. Barry started his career at the Hamilton Watch Company and retired from L-3 Communications in 2006. He was an Eagle Scout. He served as president of the AMS Metals Society and the Manheim Township Lions Club, where he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow and the Lions of PA Foundation Fellow. He was also a fundraising volunteer for the Neffsville Fire Company. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher, committee member, and volunteer with the Power Packs program providing food to needy area families. Barry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on vacations in Avalon, New Jersey. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling and watching old movies. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Susan C. Gleiter, wife of Daniel C. Gleiter of Harrisburg, and Amy C. Breitling, wife of John C. Breitling of Arlington, Mass.; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Zachary Gleiter and Chloe and Henry Breitling; and brother, Stephen C. Caldwell of Chambersburg. Friends will be received on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 10-11AM at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601, with the Memorial Service to follow at 11AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his memory to St. Peters Lutheran Church at the above address or to VisionCorps, 244 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
