Barbara McKeegan, formerly of Delhi, New York, and recently of Lititz, Pennsylvania, died after a long battle with COPD on December 24, 2014. She would have been 89 on January 10, 2015. Barbara was born in 1926 in New York City to Ray W. and Jeannette Aylesworth (nee Cavanaugh) and resided in Mt. Vernon, NY, until 1937, when her family moved to Chappaqua, NY. She graduated from Good Counsel College in 1947. In 1948, she accepted a position of legal stenographer with a law firm in White Plains, NY, where she met Robert McKeegan, a young lawyer. They fell in love and were married on February 10, 1951, in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Chappaqua. At her death, they had been married 63 happy years. They have six children: Robert C. of Chehalis, WA, Marian Martenas of Lititz, PA, Bruce J. and Stephen, both of Delhi, NY, Peg Marks of Lititz,PA, and Ginny Cullinan of West Chester, PA; 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; her beloved sister, Marion Owen of Brewster, NY and 9 nieces and nephews. A son, David, died at birth in 1953. From 1954 until 2008, the couple resided in Delhi, a beautiful town in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate NY. Barbara was a longtime member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Delhi and was active in lifelong charitable endeavors including Delaware Opportunities and Catskill Area Hospice. She was an amazing cook and crafter. Her greatest passion was her beloved husband and children. Moving to Lititz in 2008, for the past 4 ½ years they resided with their daughter, Marian and son-in-law Wayne, in Elm. Goodbye, Barbara….'til we meet again. A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Lititz. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to Hospice and Community Care, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mount Joy, PA 17552.
