IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur “Art”
J. Fawber
December 14, 2017
Arthur "Art" J. Fawber, 73, of West Hempfield Twp., passed away at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy on Thursday, December 14, 2017. He was born in Lancaster to the late Norman and Jennie Harnish Fawber. Art was married to Leah M. Keppel Fawber for 27 years on September 1st.
A 1964 graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School, Art worked as a butcher, first for Kunzler & Company for over 15 years and then for Goodhart's in Conestoga. He next worked for Y & S Candies, retired and lastly worked part time at BJ's in Centerville.
Art loved life, he was a party waiting to happen and laughter and humor were always part of his demeanor. Drama wasn't his thing. His heart was bigger than his words and he would do anything to help others.
His family and their gatherings were very special to Art. He didn't always know how to express his love, but it was always there. He loved times spent at the beach, especially family times at Ocean City, MD and Wildwood, NJ.
Pepsi, chocolate milk, Motown music, dancing, the Colts, Notre Dame and the Dodgers and Celtics were some of his favorite things. Art coached little league football, basketball and baseball when his sons Tim and Shawn played. He impacted many young kids who loved to play for him. Art also played and refereed volleyball.
In addition to his loving wife Leah, Art is survived by two sons: Tim Fawber, husband of Carrie Bolander and their daughter Carissa of Edgecomb, ME and Shawn Fawber, husband of Krista Krous Fawber and their son Garrett of Lancaster; as well as five siblings: Nancy Borchick of Ephrata, Norman "Butch" Fawber of Lancaster, Harvey Fawber, husband of Kathy of Lancaster, Margaret "Peg" Parmer of Willow Street and Glenn Fawber of Willow Street. Three of his siblings, Feryn Schneider, Russell Fawber and Warren "Pud" Fawber preceded Art in death.
A celebration of Art's life will take place 11 AM Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with Pastor Mark J. Thiboldeaux officiating. His family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4th from 6 to 8 PM and on Friday from 9 to 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment is private. Please omit flowers and kindly consider sending a contribution in Art's memory to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
