Arthur F. Benjamin, Jr., 81, of Lancaster, PA passed away at Masonic Village on March 6, 2017. He was the husband of the late Gail (Humphries) Benjamin, who passed away on February 21, 2016. Born in Port Deposit, MD, he was the son of the late Arthur F. and Pearl Mitchell Benjamin. Art was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church in Landisville.
Art attended Wesley College, Dover, DE where he excelled at sports, playing football and baseball and also played semi-professional football and baseball during his high school and college years. He was active in the drama club in both high school and college. He served as a private first class in the US Army, being stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii from 1958 to 1960.
Art worked as a salesman for New Holland Farm Machinery for 13 years. He later became the owner of Hi Score Plant Food Co of Lititz for 21 years. After selling Hi Score, he remained a sales representative for the new owner for an additional 19 years.
He enjoyed horses, bowling and watching his grandchildren's numerous activities. He looked forward to weekends with his Chatelaine neighbors and loved to play Santa at Christmas time for their children.
Arthur is survived by his children: Scott (married to Jan) of DE, Lani Ward (married to John) of Lancaster, and Mitch (married to Jennifer) of KS; his 6 grandchildren Wesley, Will, Ben, Zach, Kirsten, and Piper; and his siblings John M. Benjamin of Florida and Carolyn Spencer of Port Deposit, MD.
Friends will be received on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Wayside Presbyterian Church, 600 Stony Battery Rd., Landisville, PA from 1-2PM, with the Memorial Service to follow at 2PM. Interment will be in the church's memorial garden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Art's memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to Masonic Village Hospice, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
