Obituary

Anthony Philip Nasta of Lancaster died on September 20, 2018, at age 65. He was born on October 15, 1952 in Glendale, New York, and spent much of his life in Ronkonkoma, NY, before relocating to Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, and then to Lancaster in 2001. Anthony attended Connetquot High School in Bohemia, NY, where he played trombone in the school band. He went on to study broadcasting at Graham Junior College in Boston and was a published poet during that time. Anthony had a great work ethic and held a variety of interesting jobs throughout his life, including taxi driver, courier in NYC, and news clipper. He was employed by the Lancaster Parking Authority for nearly 15 years, retiring in February 2018. Anthony was a member of the West End Mennonite Fellowship in Lancaster, where his worship and church family brought love, peace, and friendship to his life. Anthony loved baseball and was a life-long Yankees fan. He also often cheered for the Barnstormers from his favorite seat along the third base line. His recall of decades-old baseball facts and statistics was sharp, as was his memory of most things. His family relied on him for all family history and trivia, and he was always happy to share details and stories of long-ago events. Anthony also loved animals, reading, writing, music, history, and visiting new places. He enjoyed life's small pleasures such as going to the fair, sitting in the park, going for walks with family, driving the back roads of Pennsylvania and Maine, coffee at his favorite cafes, and winning a good game of Scrabble. He enjoyed family gatherings best of all. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle, and was always interested in the activities of his nieces and nephews. He was a friend to all the family pets, and they loved him. He is survived by his siblings Joe and wife, Trudy, of Palmyra; Terry of Westport, MA; Pat and husband Jim of Bethel, ME; John and wife Emily of Hershey; Marie of Brooklyn, NY; Paul and wife Marijane of Northport, NY; his nieces and nephews Sarah, Amy, Sam, Hazel, Adam, Louis (godson), Eva, Casey, Jane, and William, and many extended family members and close friends. He was predeceased by his beloved parents Patricia and Anthony Nasta and his brother-in-law, Paul Somerson. Anthony was a kind soul, and is sadly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 6th from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St, Lancaster, PA 17602. A Service at the funeral home will be held from 11:00 – 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Hershey Cemetery. Donations in Anthony's memory may be made to Water Street Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 7267, Lancaster, PA 17604 or West End Mennonite Fellowship, 20 N. Charlotte St, Lancaster, PA 17603 would be most appreciated.
