Obituary

Anthony C. Bohrn, 22, of Manheim and East Petersburg, PA, died Friday, September 12, 2008 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of James P. Keenen, Jr. and Laura M. (Bohrn) Gerhart.

Anthony always had the ambition to join the Marine Corps to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, the late James P. Keenen, Sr. Anthony entered the Marines in 2004 and was honorably discharged in August, 2008. He served two tours of duty in Iraq in October of 2005 to April of 2006 and October 2006 to May 2007. He received the Iraq Campaign Medal with one bronze service star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He had the rifle qualification badge as an expert marksman. Anthony was formerly employed at Pacsun, Carvel Ice Cream, and Child Craft

Anthony was a 2004 graduate of Hempfield High School, where he lettered in football for four years as a running back and linebacker. One class he really enjoyed at Hempfield was the Family and Consumer Science class. That class operated and managed a daycare center in the high school under the supervision of Judy Getz. He also enjoyed woodworking class.

Anthony attended St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, where he was baptized and received his first communion. He also attended CCD at St. Leo's. He was a volunteer at PAI. Anthony enjoyed making people laugh by his facial expressions and impersonations. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, music and dancing. He loved playing with little children and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his parents, Laura M. Bohrn Gerhart of Manheim, and James P. Keenen, Jr., husband of Kimberly I. of East Petersburg. Brothers Shane R. Patterson and sister Caitlyn M. Keenen of East Petersburg, sister Ashley S. Gerhart of Columbia and brother Chester M. Gerhart of Manheim. Paternal grandmother Rita M. Keenen of Lancaster, maternal grandparents Walter J. and Jean F. Bohrn of Millersville, paternal great grandmother Rita M. Fetterman of Lancaster, one nephew Cameron Gerhart. Preceded in death are maternal grandmother Suzanne M. Bohrn and paternal grandfather James P. Keenen Sr.

Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend Anthony's funeral service at 1pm on Wednesday, September 17 from the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pk. Lititz, PA 17543, 717-560-5100. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home and a second viewing will be held on Wed. from 12noon-1pm at the funeral home. Final farewell and commendation will take place at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors.
