Anne Virgin Osborn, age 87, passed away on January 3rd, 2025.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Louise Bieth Virgin and Charles Ambrose Virgin Jr., she earned BA and MA degrees from the University of Georgia. She married Charles Duncan Osborn in 1960 and moved to Lancaster, PA, in 1962 for his job at Armstrong World Industries.
Anne taught high school English before her sons were born. In 1983 she resumed full-time work as a program director at the Lancaster YWCA. She joined Lancaster Laboratories in 1986 and retired in 2007 as Director of Marketing and Communication Services.
In her professional life, she served on committees of the Lancaster, Pennsylvania and U.S. Chambers of Commerce, and was an appointed member of the Pennsylvania Healthcare Cost Containment Council and the Red Rose Transportation Authority. She also served on the boards of the Lancaster County Business Group on Health and the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council.
An active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster for 54 years, Anne served on numerous committees and on the board of directors.
Her interests included reading and travel. Anne loved to explore new parts of the globe and traveled to all seven continents and 100 countries. In recent years, she enjoyed her associations with two book clubs, the Art Class, and the YWCA.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, David (married to Corina) Osborn, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and Stephen (married to Amy-Geene) Osborn, Redwood City, CA; two grandchildren, Olive and Guy, Redwood City, CA; and sister, Rosemary Risse, Athens, GA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 2PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster, 538 W. Chestnut St., Lancaster, PA 17603. Her family will greet friends following the service. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Unitarian Universalist Church at the above address or to the YWCA of Lancaster, 110 N. Lime St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
