IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna Marie
Weems
April 5, 2017
Anna Marie Weems (nee Weiss) was born in Enhaut, PA. on July 5th 1924, The 3rd child of Frank and Barbara Weiss (Nee Schmidt) is where it all started for mom. Growing up in Elizabethtown with 5 sisters and 2 brothers, parochial schooling, German heritage, and a lot of hard work is the tradition mom learned and carried with her throughout her life. After graduating from high school mom went to Utah to help her older sister. The magic happened in Tooele, Utah, mom met Elvin Morris Weems and they married on Sept. 17th, 1946. Daniel(deceased), Greg and Barbara were born in Utah. Mom and dad then moved to Lancaster and purchased a home in the Glen Moore Circle area. Mom then gave birth to Anthony, Steven, Kathy, Joseph, Kevin and Theresa(deceased). Mom saw to it that parochial schooling, weekly music lessons on the piano, and a lot of outdoor activities were a mainstay in mom's household. Mom was a voracious reader of books of all genre, we all got our library card at an early age and at dinner time we would talk and discuss the book we were currently reading. To this day we would swap books with mom and talk about our favorite authors. Mom was a true bookworm. When faced with an empty nest mom went to work at Savemart for 15 years where she made new friends with customers and fellow employees. April 2009 dad died, they were together for 63 years. Mom moved on and continued to run her home as she always did, continuous improvement was her motto. Mom moved into Country Meadows a few years ago and enjoyed her life with all the activities and many more new friends. Mom never compromised and was a strict follower of the Catholic faith. Dad was the bread winner but a MOM makes the home. and we had the best home in the whole wide world. THANKS MOM !!! And every time we heard Johnny Mathis, Lawrence Welk, Mitch Miller or Larry Ferrari we would cover our ears. Now we smile and think of you. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 929 N. Duke Street, Lancaster. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna Marie's memory to the Purple Heart Society, www.purpleheart.org.
