IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna R.
Komis
September 19, 1917 – March 20, 2016
Anna R. Komis, 98, of Lancaster, PA, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on March 20, 2016. Born in Lancaster on Sept. 19, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen (Avgerinos) Kusuplos. Anna graduated from Steven's High School for girls in 1934, excelling in typing and shorthand. She worked in Maryland and Pennsylvania for city, state and federal government offices. Her most permanent employment was with the Lancaster County Assistance office where she remained for many years. The positions she held there included executive secretary for the director. Prior to this, Anna was also employed with Armstrong Cork Company , Bearings Company and Clarke Mortgage Company, all of Lancaster. Anna was a very active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. She sang in the choir for 70 years, and, at times, served as choir director. She was a Sunday school teacher and English teacher to many Greek newcomers. Anna was a member of the Women's Bible Study and Maids of Athens. She was a member and also served as president and secretary with the Philoptochos Society. Anna volunteered at Franklin & Marshall as a Night Ministry Counselor for college students. She was generous and eager to help others. Anna was a devoted mother, enjoying time with family, friends and neighbors. She will be remembered as having a great sense of humor – often the "life of the party!" Anna adored her cats, often attended picnics and outdoor concerts. She was an avid Phillies fan. Anna loved vacationing at the Jersey shore. Anna followed current events – always with a transistor radio nearby. Her family originated from the Cephalonia Island in Greece, therefore she was fluent in the Greek language. Anna is survived by Nicholas Roumeliotis, who resides at Conestoga View. Also surviving are two sons, Gerald and Dennis Roumeliotis, and one daughter Eugenia, wife of Phillip McQuilken, all of Lancaster. Anna was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Christ, Daniel, Speros, and Peter; two sisters, Mary Kusuplos and Grace Pavlatos. Relatives and Friends are invited to the funeral service on Thursday, March 24 at 10:30am from Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave., with Father Alexander Goussetis and Father Alexander Veronis officiating. Viewing will be held at church from 9:30-10:30am. Interment at Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Philoptochos Society at the church.
