IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna Beddia
Calcara
March 21, 2025
Anna Beddia Calcara, 82, of Lancaster, PA went Home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2025. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Anna was born in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily Italy to Leonard and Antonina (Tortorici) Beddia.
Anna came to the United States in 1959 and started working as a seamstress. Later in life she started working as a sales associate for Appel and Weber in fine china and jewelry located in Watt and Shand's Department store. This led to a 30 plus year career in fine jewelry sales, most recently at Reeds Jewelers in Park City which she truly enjoyed.
Her most important job, however, was that of a homemaker, which she held throughout her entire adult life as a wife and later as a mother. Her love of children and the joy that their presence brought her was well known within the family and with her friends.
In her spare time, Anna enjoyed cooking, baking, singing, reading, gardening, swimming, traveling, and bowling. Anna was an active member of St. Philip the Apostle Church in Millersville, where she sang in the Adult Choir from 1995 to 2023. She was always available to lend a helping hand to extended family members, friends, and neighbors. She adored animals, especially her dogs, Lassie and Oregano.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Pietro (Pete), their son Eric, brother Nunzio (Mariette), Montreal Canada, brother-in-law Santo Iacono Lancaster PA, sister-in-law Antonina (Robert) Walker Exton PA, and many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and physicians at Hershey Medical Center Neuro Intensive Care Unit for their assistance during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are greatly appreciated.
The family will receive guests at a visitation on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 2PM – 4PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St. Millersville, PA 17551. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, April 7, 2025, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, Fr. Lawrence Sherdel as Celebrant. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 AM until Mass. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lancaster.
