Anita M. Hunter, 44, of Quarryville, passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 26, 2023. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Lawanda (Hunter) Smith, wife of Michael Smith, Sr.

She was a 1998 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School and attended Empire Beauty School.

Being with her family was time Anita treasured, whether it was doing her daughter's hair, cooking some of her signature meals, or showing off her new crafty décor, she loved creating memories with them. She will be remembered by many for her heart of gold, outgoing spirit, and sense of humor. Most importantly, through many health trials and tribulations she persevered and fought relentlessly to get herself through.

Her love will live on in her children, Antonio Diaz, Aaliyah Hunter, and Andrez Mendez; the little girl who made her a "Nana", Aries; siblings, Letisha Gilbert, wife of Ross, and Zachary Sheaffer, fiancé of Karisha Ortiz; her bonus sister, Mia Markley; a niece, Zara; step siblings, Samantha Smith and Michael Smith, Jr., and her beloved dog, Brownie. She was preceded in passing by her maternal grandmother, Luana Witmer; an uncle, Tim Witmer; nephews, Alejandro and Leandre, and a cousin, Terry Barker.

The family will receive guests at a viewing on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584 from 1-3 PM. Memorial contributions in Anita's name may be made to SPCA Lancaster.
