Angeliki Billis, 70, of Lancaster, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in St. George Sikousis, Chios, Greece, Angeliki was the daughter of the late Vasilios and Despina (Pouleros) Kalargyros. She was married to Stefanos P. Billis on May 6, 1962.
A homemaker, Angeliki was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. She loved the church community, and her Greek heritage was very important to her. Angeliki was a member of St. George Sikousis Society.
Known for her sense of humor, Angeliki loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting, and was also known for her greek pastries and baking.
In addition to her husband, Angeliki is survived by her children, Eleni Mamas of Lancaster, Panagiotis S. Billis, husband of Viktoriya O. of Lancaster, and Nicholas S. Billis, husband of Athena, of Lititz, and grandchildren, Mariah, Anna, and Costas Mamas, Stefanos P. Billis, Stefanos M. and Angeliki Billis, and a grandchild due in January. She is also survived by brother, Nicholas Kalargyros, husband of Elefteria, of Lancaster, and sisters, Maria Theofanis and Eleni Christopoulos of Patra Greece, and many nieces and nephews. Angeliki was preceded in death by her sister, Markella.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service being held at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 11 AM, with Rev. Alexander Goussetis officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday evening from 6 until 8 PM with a Trisagion service at 7 PM. A second viewing will be held Monday morning from 10 until 11 AM. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Angeliki's memory may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or to Holy Protection Monastery, 1 St. Joseph's Way, White Haven, PA 18661.
