Andrew Farkas passed away at Mennonite Home on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 95 years of age. He was born September 23, 1922, son of the late Sofia and George Farkas of Northampton, PA. He was a member of the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Northampton, PA. Andrew was a member of the CCC Camp at Northeast, MD before entering the United States Coast Guard. He was a World War II veteran. He served in the Pacific War Theater for four years and the Korean War for one year. He is a graduate of Millersville State Teachers College. Andrew was employed throughout his life in management positions. He retired in 1987 for the Auditor General office of the state of PA. After retirement, he was a volunteer for the PA Fish Commission doing trout stocking for over ten years. Andrew spent many years working on his family history which originated in Slovakia and Poland. He enjoyed traveling to those countries with his three sons. He enjoyed all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family vacations to the Outer Banks, fishing, watching football and baseball games. His favorite teams were the Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame. He liked traveling to Arizona, puzzles, word search and Sudoku. Andrew is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Landis Farkas, three sons, Andrew (Sherry) of Fairfield, PA, Stephan (Alicia Moranz) of Lancaster, Michael (Kelly) of Glenmoore, PA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and by one brother, Br. George Farkas of Bethlehem, PA. There will be a private family memorial service at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Andrew's memory may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, 110 N.
