Andrew W. Burkhardt, Jr., 80, of Lancaster passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Andrew W. Burkhardt, Sr. and Elsie G. (Thornton) Burkhardt. He was the loving husband of the late Mary E. (Daugherty) Burkhardt who passed away in 2008. He was a 1955 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. He worked as a yard master for the PA Railroad for many years. He was a former member of St. James Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic minister and sacristan. Andrew was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus. Above all he was a hardworking, dedicated father who cared deeply for his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Kim M. Weaver wife of Steve of Manheim Twp., and their daughters: Kathryn, Rebecca and Rachael; Theresa A. Burkhardt of Penryn, and her son, Garrett; a son, Drew Burkhardt husband of Shareen of Columbia, and their daughters: Morgan, Ashley, Maddison and Gillian and two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa B. Burkhardt; son, Todd P. Burkhardt and his two brothers, Robert A. and Anthony W. Burkhardt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. Interment will be in St. Joseph's New Catholic Cemetery at 2:30PM on Monday. Friends will be received from 9-11AM at the church on Monday.
