Amos G. Shenk, Jr., 83, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him on June 29 th at Lancaster General Hospital.
He was the husband of Helen H. Howell Shenk, with whom he would have celebrated 54 years of marriage this coming August 9 th . Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Amos G. Sr. and Susan Ulrich Shenk.
Amos had worked as a salesperson for Automotive Sales, formerly of Orange St in Lancaster, until his retirement in 1989. Prior to this, he had worked for Herr The Pump Man, Pfenninger Electric, Rutherford Electric, and Joe The Motorist, all of Lancaster.
A NASCAR enthusiast, Amos was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music, was an avid Phillies fan, and was a member of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Assn. He loved being a grandpa, and loved to dog-sit his son and daughter in law's dog, Buster.
He was a member of Nottingham Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steve S. married to Autumn C. Shenk of East Petersburg; 2 grandsons, Mark and Aaron Shenk, and a sister, Betty Beiler of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Burnell Sr., Roy, and Carl Shenk.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 9-1030AM at Trinity United Church of Christ, 2340 State St., East Petersburg, with the funeral service to follow at 1030AM. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Amos' memory to the American Lung Assn., 101 Good Dr, Suite 1, Lancaster, PA 17603.
