IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alta M.
Hamric
September 2, 1940 – June 19, 2024
On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Alta M. Hamric, 83, of Willow Street, passed away at Lancaster Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
Alta was born on September 2, 1940, in Landisville, to Ross and Myrtle (Dunkleberger) Fair. After attending Hempfield High School, she went on to marry Donald G. Hamric on June 11, 1960. Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Alta was renowned for her unwavering commitment to helping others, especially within her church community at First Reformed UCC in Lancaster. She was also active in scouting for over 30 years with both Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Whether volunteering with scouting, organizing vacation bible schools, ushering at worship services, or crafting for loved ones Alta embodied the love of the Lord through her actions.
Throughout her life, Alta felt a strong calling to serve others, but her greatest devotion was to her family. With Don, she enjoyed raising their children, vacationing in the Outer Banks, NC and the mountains near Blaine, PA. She also delighted in gathering around the kitchen table to share meals, conversation, and, most importantly, laughter.
Alta is survived by her husband Don; son Donald P. Hamric, partner of Albert Charon, Jr.; daughter Melissa H., wife of Zack Taft; son David W. Hamric, husband of Priscilla; 5 grandchildren: Aaron Mitchell, George Mitchell, Darren Hamric, Madison Kolk, and Tyre Taft; 4 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way, and her siblings, Ross G. "Whitey" Fair, husband of Carol, Janet Reynolds, wife of the late Harry Reynolds, Sr., and Martha, wife of John Decker, Jr. She will be lovingly missed.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank M. Fair, Alice Deitz, and Fay L. Rathkey.
A viewing will take place from 9:30 to 11:00 am, followed by the funeral at 11:00 am with The Rev. Devin Bryant Jeffers officiating on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Interment will be private.
