IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Allie Mae
Miller
April 25, 2023
Allie Mae Miller, 91, of Lancaster, passed away at Penn Medicine, Lancaster General Hospital on April 25, 2023, with her family by her side. Born in Dillon, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jazie and Allie Jones. She and Alfred Miller shared over 60 memorable years together, until his passing in 2011.
Prior to becoming her family's childcare provider, she was employed at the former Hilton/Brunswick Hotel, which is now the Holiday Inn.
She dedicated her life to God and her family. She was a devout Jehovah's Witness, and a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Hershey Avenue in Lancaster. She treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They fondly remember the many meals she made to gather the family around the table and her delectable pineapple upside down cake and sweet potato pies. She found great peace being outdoors in her garden as many neighbors and friends would comment that she maintained the best yard in the neighborhood. Camping and fishing were other ways she was able to share laughs and create countless memories with her family.
To know Allie is to love her. Her love will live on in her children, James Jones, Walter Jones, husband of Milanda, Doris Jones Griffith, wife of John, Valerie Jones, Alfred Jones, Jakia Thompson, and Walter "Ditter" Jones, Jr., all of Lancaster; bonus sons, Cano Serrano and Franklin Gillis, both of Lancaster; a sister, best friend and confidant with whom she spoke to daily, Elouise McFadden, wife of the late Roosevelt, of Lancaster; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law, as well as extended family. She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, a daughter, Sarah Margaret Jones, and siblings, Elijah Jones, Jessie Jones, Jazie Jones, Jr., Sampson Jones, Abraham Jones, Solomon Jones, Lizzie Singletary, and Bessie Hargrove.
The family will receive guests at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602 at 11 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023, with a funeral service beginning at 12 PM. Interment to follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to those who cared for Allie including, ComForCare Homecare of Lancaster and Rightway Home Care. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Allie's Caregiver Angels, Tereisha Fry, Mattie Thedford Dupree, and Bernadette Nunn.
