Allen C. Palmer, 78, of Lancaster, PA passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. He was the husband of Teresa E. (Hickey) Palmer to whom he was married for 57 years.
Born in Queens, NY, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Lempi (Filander) Palmer. Al worked for Continental Can Co., Crown, Cork and Seal and Bway Corp. as the shipping supervisor and when he retired he had a total of 41 years of service. He also served in the National Guard. Al was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church where he was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and was a very active member of the Santa Maria Assembly 915 and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12532 and was currently serving as the District Deputy in District 121. Al was a past Grand Knight and past Deputy Grand Knight and enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his wife Teresa, he is survived by three daughters AnnMarie wife of Dave Fluke of Mountville, PA, Linda Palmer of Ephrata, PA and Terri Palmer of Lancaster, PA; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two sisters Carole wife of Andy Lang of Long Island, NY and Evelyn Gavin of West Milford, NJ. He was preceded in death by two brothers David and Robert Palmer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11AM from St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. Viewings with the Santa Maria Assembly 4th Degree Honor Guard will be held Sunday evening from 6-8PM from the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 and Monday from 10-11AM at the Church. The Rosary will be recited Sunday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be held in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA with military honors provided by the Red Rose Honor Guard and Vet 21 Salute.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603 in his memory.
