Alfred "Al" Month, 88, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his home. He was born in New York, NY to the late Jacob and Rose (Schwartz) Month. He is survived by his wife, Hilde (Grossberg) Month to whom he was married to for 65 years. Al was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and City College of New York. He served as a Sergeant First Class in the Korean War with the US Army. Al was a Chemical Engineer for RCA for 35 years. He was responsible for numerous patents during his time there. After his retirement, Al volunteered as a tax preparer for H&R Block. He was an avid reader, enjoyed Scrabble, and puzzles. Al loved going to Universal gym on a daily basis. He was known as the family's handyman and for his keen sense of humor; always looking on the bright side. After retirement, Al and Hilde enjoyed traveling Europe and playing bridge. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Leslie Month, (Robert Russell), of Berkeley, CA, Dr. Stacy Month, (Joseph Karwat), of Oakland, CA, and Nina Van Winkle, (William Van Winkle, III), of Vienna, VA. He is also survived by two granddaughters: Emily and Ariel Karwat, both of Oakland, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sadie Resnick. Al's Funeral Service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 12 Noon at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz PA with Rabbi Rami Pavolotzky officiating. A visitation will be held before the service from 11 AM to Noon. A burial will follow at Beth El Cemetery, Newport Road, Lititz, PA with Military Honors. After the service, friends are invited to visit the family home from 5PM-8PM. The Minyan will be held at 6PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth El, 1836 Rohrerstown Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601 and The Red Rose Veteran Honor Guard, P.O. Box 8601, Lancaster, PA 17604-8601.
