Alex J. DeFrancesco, 86, of Lancaster, PA, died on Thursday, August 21, 2014. Born to the late Samuel & Alice DeFrancesco on February 3, 1928 in Stowe, PA.

He graduated from Passaic Valley H.S. in Little Falls, New Jersey; which he served as President of the freshman class and was the quarterback for the Passaic Valley football team. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1946-1947 aboard the USS Duluth and USS Bremerton. Alex worked for Burnham Corp and retired from R.E. Michel Company. Alex was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing his banjo, crossword puzzles and cryptoquips.

Alex is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda; daughter, Stephanie wife of John Zimmerman; and two grandchildren: Nicole & Erik.

Alex was preceded in death by three sisters: Renee, Virginia and Marguerite.

He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather & Friend. Alex will be missed.

A Gathering will be held in Alex's memory from 1:00-3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George Street, Millersville, PA 17551 with Military Honors presented by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard at 3:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Alex's name to the Lebanon VA Hospice, 1700 South Lincoln Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042.
