Agatha A. "Tookie" Gerz, 88, of Lancaster, went to be with her Lord on July 25, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care in Lancaster after a short illness, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of 63 years to the late Alex F. Gerz, who passed away in 2007. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late William and Agatha Gross McCaughey. A member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Tookie was a member of the Catholic Daughters and an active church volunteer. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She is survived by her son, A. Michael married to Lynne M. Gerz, her grandson Eric C. married to Jennifer L. Gerz, and her two great granddaughters, Adeline and Norah. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Adeline Brown and Hanora McCaughey and by her brother, William McCaughey. Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 10-11AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM, the Rev. Daniel Mitzel as Celebrant. Following the Mass, the recitation of the Holy Rosary will be observed. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Tookie's memory to St. Anthony's Catholic Church at the above address.
