William E. Nace, 70

February 05, 2019

William E. Nace, 70, passed away unexpectedly at his Mount Joy home on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. He was born in Gettysburg to E. Nadine (Rodgers) Nace and the late William Kenneth Nace. Bill was married to Sandra A. (Caraway) Nace for 36 years.

A 1966 graduate of Gettysburg High School, Bill completed his education at Thompson Institute in Harrisburg. He served in the Army from 1968 to 1972, both active duty and reserves.

Bill worked as Director of Management Information Systems at the former Old Guard Insurance Group, Manheim Twp., and retired as the Code & Zoning Officer of Millersville Borough.

A lover of the outdoors and an avid fisherman, boater and hunter, Bill enjoyed three South African Safari hunts. His most memorable hunt was for Cape Buffalo. Bill also hunted throughout the US and Canada. He was previously active in bowling at Leisure, Dutch, and Clearview Lanes and enjoyed his Lancaster and York Poker groups.

Bill’s family and friends meant everything to him and he will be missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his mother Nadine and wife Sandy, Bill is survived by his son Justin Nace, Phillipsburg, NJ, stepson Brent Shaub, Australia, his brother Jeffrey Nace, husband of Dru, Washington Boro, and his nieces Elizabeth Ludwig and Rebecca Horn, wife of Ronald.

Private interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to PA Wounded Warriors, Inc., 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

I am shocked to hear of Bill’s passing.  I met Bill when we were first graders at Franklin Twp. Consolidated School, Cashtown, PA.  We were bus buddies throughout our twelve years of school.  Bill was a quiet, shy one in school.  Sandy, I am sending prayers to you, Bill’s mother and your whole family.  We all have memories of those closest to us and those we’ve known for years.  Those memories will be with you the rest of your life.  I lost track of Bill many years ago but have some fun memories of bus rides (particularly our bus driver, Mr. Diehl) and the many classmates who hung out with Bill.  God bless you and your family.
