William A. Gigl, 93

William A. Gigl, 93, of Lancaster, died May 23, 2006 at Conestoga View.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lewis J. and Barbara Wolpert Gigl. He was the husband of the late Grace E. McDougal Gigl, who died in 2004.

Bill was a toy maker, tool and die maker, and project engineer for Hubley Toy Co. and Wilton Armitel. He built carousels and was interviewed by Wendell Woodbury on the beauty of them. As a young man he was a member of the Blue and White string orchestra playing the drums. In his later years he was a member of a trio that played in local senior citizens homes. Bill will be most remembered as a jack of all trades always willing to help everyone, never feeling that a problem was too big or too small to fix. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Surviving are two children, Ronald W., married to Janet Gigl of Lancaster, and Joyce M., married to Frank Felizzi of Lancaster, 7 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren, and a sister, Jeanette Gigl of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Spangler, Margaret Brommer, Ruth Schmitz, and a brother, John L. Gigl.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St. Lancaster, at 11AM. Interment in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may be received on Thursday evening at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz from 6-8PM.
