Condolences to the Family

“Waynie” will be remembered as an example of what is good about our family.  He will be missed at the Shroyer reunion this year—he was always good for ornery humor.  But, his tender heart was always there when he talked about your mom.  When they were dating, he brought her to our house.  He and my mom were close and she was relentless in matchmaking!  Poor guy—head-over-heels in love but shy and dazzled by a gorgeous, sweet woman who patiently waited til he found the courage to pop the question.  Having my mom pulling your strings was like being chased by a pit bull!
I was only about 6 when he joined the Marines and I can remember Aunt Ada in the kitchen crying while he was getting ready to go overseas.  How handsome he was in his uniform and I thought he was so brave.  When you’re a kid, Argentina and Newfoundland are beyond imagination.  But you know they’re scary, dangerous places and he was going there, one of the few and the proud!
Honoring him by carrying out his final wishes shows your love and respect for a father whose life’s work was his family.
May the light of God shine upon you and his love enfold you and give you strength.
Semper fi!
Linda Yoder (Linnie)
