Walter F. Koch, Jr., 79

Walter F. Koch, Jr., 79, of Quarryville, died unexpectedly at Lancaster General Hospital on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was born in Strasburg to the late Walter F., Sr. and Florence Gochenour Koch. Walt celebrated 57 years of marriage with his wife Pearl Mellott Koch on July 3rd.
A graduate of Paradise High School, Walt served in the US Air Force Reserves and then active duty in the US Army, stationed in Germany from 1960 to 1962. He owned and operated Koch Plumbing and Heating, Inc., now run by his son Stephen.
Walt was a member of New Providence Church of God. He Loved the Lord and his wife and family. Walt enjoyed the outdoors, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and hunting at his cabin in Potter County. He also enjoyed the Fenwick Island beach house and was especially fond of his historic home and property in Eden Twp. Walt was a member of Washington Lodge #156 F.& A.M.
Surviving besides his wife Pearl, are their four children, Mark F. Koch, husband of Lori (Hohenwarter) of Manheim, Cindy Koch, wife of Inga Stevens of Wendell, MA, David Koch, husband of Kelly (Huss) of Andover, NY and Stephen Koch, husband of Sue (Clites) of Quarryville; six grandchildren, Derek Koch, husband of Heidi (Smith), Jared Koch, Whitney(Koch), wife of G.J. Frankford, Matthew Koch, husband of Jessica (Roldan), Nicole White and Nathan Koch; four great-grandchildren, Landon White, Tony and Luna Koch and Easton Frankford; and his siblings, Betty, wife of the late Ralph Lockard, Frank Koch, husband of Nancy (Kutz) and Thomas Koch, husband of Linda (Bard).
A viewing will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 from 1 to 3 PM, followed by the funeral at 3 PM, with Rev. Dwight E. Lefever officiating, at New Providence Church of God. Private interment in Quarryville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Providence Church of God Building Fund (Next), 269 Cinder Road, New Providence, PA 17560.

My deepest sympathy to the Koch family. I was a Strasburg girl and I remember fondly hearing things about the family. I work at CR Lapps and I remember the first time I saw Walt after so many years. He remembered my name. Sincerely Gail Sheaffer

Our  condolences to Pearl , Mark, Cindy, David and Stephen– he was a true professional and I recall his helping a family in the Southern End , both adults were severely ill, at no cost. Pearl,  57 years is awesome.       Bill and Tessie Hunt
