Condolences to the Family

April 20, 2017

My heartfelt condolences to the Vlassis family on your loss.  I remember Mr. Vlassis from the Watt & Shand days.  I was always happy to see him on duty.  I never heard him say and unkind word to anyone.  I am certain he touched so many lives.  My heart goes out to all of you.

Diane, Ted, Nick, and the entire Vlassis clan:  I was saddened when my mom shared news of “Uncle” Wally’s passing.  For my generation, even those of us who had no connection to him as a school administrator, he had one of those larger-than-life personas.  It’s lost to me now when or how I first learned he was a school principal, but I remember thinking that he seemed too nice to be in charge of a school.  In days before Park City, when buying a new suit or sport jacket for Easter meant an annual trek downtown with mom to Watt & Shand, being greeted by a smiling Uncle Wally helped ease the discomfort of trying on clothes.  I’ll always remember his disarmingly kind, silky smooth voice.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My condolences to the Vlassis family.  As I sit down the street from the house that will always be the “Vlassis” house to me, I fondly recall the many years spent hanging out with Nick and always being warmly welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. Vlassis! Mr. Vlassis was always impeccably dressed and incredibly polite – may he Rest In Peace and be warmly welcomed by Mrs Vlassis – no doubt with a plate of delicious Greek pastries!  Mike Tafelski

Sorry for your loss.   I remember when he was an administrator and a Principal at Penn Manor.   He was a very quiet, but stern.   He was loved due to the way that he was with his students.  I will always remember the smile that he always had on his face.
