Vincent Onyango Hagono, 66
December 25, 2020
Vincent Onyango Hagono, 66, of Millersville, PA was called home on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Kenya, he was the son of the late Leonida (Obat) and Joseph Hagono Ong’are and son-in-law to the late Grace Okumu. He was the beloved husband to Pamela Adhiambo Hagono for over 30 years.
This a testament to the life and times of a dedicated husband, adoring father, a selfless son, the encompassing brother, uncle and friend who lived as an epitome of humility and service to his larger family and to his country. His level of honesty and integrity was his virtue and nobility and earned him respect among his professional peers
He was the loving father to Regina (Providence, RI), Nicholas (Columbia, PA) and Velma (Houston Texas); siblings: Philomena Anyango, Frank Hagono (Seattle, USA), Tony Hagono (South Sudan) as well as several nieces and nephews (in Kenya). He was preceded in death by his siblings: Wilfred Nundu Hagono, Maurice Ochieng’, Elizabeth Akinyi, Rosa Athieno, Frederick Oluoch Wandago.
He was a world traveler who enjoyed life, museums, and was a culinary enthusiast. Most of all he cherished his family. He prioritized peace as a pillar in his life, building bridges was his nature and saw the good in all humanity. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Prior to retirement, Vincent was an electrical engineer for Kenya Railways Corporation, African Development Bank and run his consulting firm – Engineering Associates.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, 2102 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. Interment will be private at Conestoga Memorial Park

Vincent, the two of us shared office space at the East African Community Lake Victoria Basin Commission Secretariat (LVBC) in Kenya.
This evening, I was doing a simple internet search to see how you were doing lately, only to learn about your unfortunate demise.
It’s sad; it’s sad…
I will remember you for your calmness under any circumstances, your humble demeanour despite your professional achievements and seniority, as well as your forthrightness and commtiment to purpose. I was particularly touched by your attention to detail and determination to deliver assignments ahead of deadlines. You were a professional to a fault.
Rest in peace, my roomate and friend.

Vincent, it was refreshing to have known you as a workmate in LVBC, an institution of EAC. You exhibited your humility and dependable friendship. Though we came from the same village in South West Alego, this was our meeting point at the peak of our engineering profession, due to the fact that we had our early childhood upbringing in different locations in both Kenya and Tanzania.
I’ve always cherished your engineering acumen as you never disappointed in your prefessional advice to the institution and to those that you were their mentors and role models.
Engineer, we will miss you but may you rest in eternal peace. We loved U but this was the time, as each of us has our time. Till we meet again …

There comes a time in life that darkness seems so thick and impenetrable.it is a moment when there are so many questions and very few answers. It’s a time like this that cherished memories of the departed loved one and appreciating the opportunity to have shred a life together balms the wound and the hope to meet again where there will be no more parting lights up the way. May God, The Father of all comfort give you all peace at this very trying moment Fare thee well Vincent.

I have fond memories of my Uncle. The most soft spoken and caring person. I remember always being treated as member of the family for the times I visited and stayed in the family. I was like the first born daughter. Uncle always looked out on me. No meal was ever served without him asking “where is Achieng Eunice”, if I was not yet at the dining table. His trademark was how he called me with both my names, the 2nd name first and always with a smile😊. I was made to feel totally at home and I was welcome to stay as long as I wanted. I will miss my Uncle and I believe he is in a better place. Rest in peace Uncle.
To my loving Auntie, Lopi, Nico and Velly trust in the Lord for he will never let you down. Be strong and grounded in God’s word and Promises.
Isaiah 40:31 those who HOPE in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar up like Eagles; they will run and not get weary and will walk and not grow faint.
He is where life is forever. He shall be missed by Son in Law and grand children too.

On behalf of the entire Isaiah Onyango Wayasa family, friends and relatives who aren’t going to get an opportunity to send their condolences, we would like to sincerely express our heartfelt condolence. Calling Eng. Hagono an uncle or a brother or grandpa would be an understatement, he was far much greater than that. He touched our hearts in so many different ways; he was truly God-sent. And now that God has seen it fit to call him home, all we could pray for is the strength and understanding to accept and come to terms with the moving on with life without him around till we meet again one day, because we know the life on earth is just temporary, there’s an eternal life after, where good people like him deserve and will forever live. May his soul forever rest in peace. God gave and God has taken, in our hearts he’ll forever live.
