Verna served BVS again from 1961-1963 in France, Germany and Austria. She returned to teach in Columbus, OH; Chicago, IL; and finally, Burgard Elementary school in Manheim where she retired in 1993.

In 1968 Verna met Rodney with whom she recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. Together they were longtime members of the Lancaster Bicycle Club and the Lititz Church of the Brethren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rodney; her parents Mary and Levi Weaver; a brother Kenneth and son Jonathan.

Surviving Verna are children; Chris, husband of Jill, Andrew, husband of Sheila, Jeffrey, husband of Tammy, grandchildren; Joshua and Matthew and a daughter in law Diane, wife of Jonathan who passed in death in 2008 and who was like a daughter.

Together, they touched many lives through their generosity and will be fondly remembered by those who knew them.

Condolences to the Family

To Verna’s family,
my deepest sympathies to you all! Your mother taught next to me for many years at HC Burgard. We shared an opening between our rooms on the second floor of the factory wing at HCB. She in 3rd & I in 1st. She was always an incredible inspiration and mentor in my early years of teaching. It was an honor to call her colleague and friend. It was lovely reconnecting with her at the Rec in an aquatic exercise class. No matter the situation Verna always had a smile and a positive out look. She will me missed, but I have wonderful memories of your mother! Prayers for healing🙏🏻Yours,
Sarah Heckel Summers

I grew up with Verna in the Church of the Brethren.   We had some contact after I graduated from No Manchester (where I sat next to her 1st husband, playing cello in the orchestra!) .  Years later, we would see each other at Fulton Theater performances.  Always a pleasant conversation.

my sincere condolences to the Moseman family.  Verna was an inspiirational teacher, highly respected, intelligent and caring.  She led by example in all she did.  She was deliberate and thoughtfull.  I was pleased to say Verna was a model professional, a great teacher at Manheim Central, one to emulate.  Her life will be remembered in the lives of her students and in the memory of her colleagues.

Dear family of Verna Moseman –  Sincere sympathy for you loss.  I got to know Verna swimming at the Lititz Rec center in 1993.  She along with Sue Fry, Lucy De Perrot and myself were the “Lane Maidens”; we teamed up to swich the lap lanes in the original large pool many years ago so that their aquazise class could have most of the pool.  Verna and I stayed in touch as she continued  to swim through the years.  Verna was always a wonderful listener as I proceeded to complete my art education degree and eventually began my teaching carreer.  Verna was always thoughtful and insightful.  I loved hearing her stories from her days of travel around the world and the country, her biking, and her stories from years of teaching.  Verna will be missed, she was a remarkable woman who loved Jesus and showed his love through volunteering to tutor new Warwick students from foreign lands, and so many different programs at her church and at Moravian Manor.  Love you Verna.  Diane, deepest sympthay to you I know how much you meant to each other.  May God surround your familiy in this season of grieving with His Love and Strength.
With love, Wendy Weinstein

I was so saddened to read of Verna’s passing.  She and Rodney were always a team, whether making a financial decision, working on projects or biking.  It seems fitting that they would leave this world as a team.

Please accept our deepest sympathies on the losses of both Verna and Rodney. I first met Verna in 1972 when I was a very new teacher and have admired her dedication and compassion for years. I was fortunate to reconnect with her at Lititz Church of the Brethren and was privileged to work with her once more. What a grand lady! We all join in your sorrow….. Bill and Linda (Crook) Saylor
