Verna Longacre, 86

Verna Longacre, 86, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019.
In the late 1940s, she tap danced with the Mary Jane All Girl Marimba Band. In the early 1950s, she worked with Reg Kehoe’s Marimba Queens as a dancer. A 1950 graduate of Mount Joy High School, she went to work for Vere Bishop-Bishop Studio where she painted all the portraits. In 1967, she went to cosmetology school and in 1969, opened her own beauty shop, where she retired in January of 2002.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Elizabethtown, PA.
She was a life of the Milton Grove Sportsmans Club where she enjoyed fishing. She was Past Matron of the Elizabethtown Chapter 407 Order Of The Eastern Star.
She enjoyed many hobbies, including golfing, oil painting, reading, Knitting, and gardening.
Verna was the wife of the late James S. Longacre and the daughter of the late Kathryn and John B. Myers.
She is survived by a half-brother, Vaughn Myers, of Lancaster.
There will be no services, as were her wishes.

So sorry to hear about Cousin Verna. We visited her last year when we were up north after she was transferred to Legend of Lititz.
Verna was her own person. She was a head turner. She was kind and careing. She will be missed by those that knew and loved her.

To my Friend Verna. I,m so sorry and hurt that i didn,t get to see you. When you left Landisville no one would tell me where you were. I even called your church. They wouldn,t tell me either.Any way we have our memories. We love you. You are in a much better place. R I P.
