Ticia Magner, 56
Ticia (Patricia) Magner, 56, of Lancaster, PA, spent her lifetime experiencing the infinite healing in the repeated refrains of nature—the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter (as written by beloved biologist and environmentalist, Rachel Carson).
Ticia died at home, surrounded by deep love, in the arms of family. A self-proclaimed “dirt-worshipping, tree hugger,” Ticia was a lifelong student of the beauty and mystery of the earth. A naturalist, environmentalist and conservationist, Ticia was a member of the National Resources Defense Council. Before retiring in 2020, Ticia worked for City of Lancaster, Public Works, Parks Department, planting and caring for trees.
Ticia was born to the late Geraldine (Mauer) Oliver and the late Richard Magner. She is preceded in death by stepfather Dennis Oliver, brother Patrick Magner, and sisters Kathleen Fox and Colleen Magner. Ticia is survived by four siblings: Mary Kinney (Wayne), Salem, OR; Christopher Magner (Carolyn); Jason Oliver; and Jeremy Oliver (Elizabeth)—all of whom reside in Lancaster; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather privately to celebrate Ticia’s life.

Condolences to the Family

Ticia lived next door to us for a few years when she was married to Mike Abel. She was always very friendly, cheerful and kind. When she moved, I hadn’t seen her for a few years and then happened to meet up with her when she was working at Binn’s Park in downtown Lancaster. It was good to see her again and we had a nice chat. I was so sorry to see that she had passed away. She was a great lady. My condolences go out to her family. Donna Sheaffer.

Ticia was a valuable and a value-adding, treasured member of DPW, contributing to our urban tree canopy, the greater health of our urban forest, and of the quality of life of the residents of the City. Passionate about the living environment, she will be sorely missed, and fondly remembered.

I’m so saddened by the passing of Ticia. She truly was a ray of sunshine and gentle soul. I had the chance to work with her on tree plantings with the Lancaster Tree Tenders. She was such a fun person to work with and her enthusiasm was contagious. I will miss her. Condolences to her family.

How sad. Ticia worked so hard to create your own little “paradise” only to be taken away from it so soon. She was truly an earth woman. Rest in peace Ticia, and my condolences to the family.

I was very sad to see this news. I worked with Ticia on a few tree planting projects in the City. She loved her work adding trees to the urban landscape and was especially good at stump removals! A very special lady who loved nature. My condolences to her family. Peace with your memories. 🌳🌲🌻
