Thomas Himes, 65

September 03, 2017

Thomas Himes, 65, of Lancaster, passed away early Sunday during a cardiac event. He is survived by his daughter, Rita, who is expecting his first grandchild in the coming weeks and son, Thomas. He joins his wife of 20 years Monica, who lost a two-decade long battle with multiple sclerosis in 2002.

Born in Philadelphia to his father, Townsend, and mother, Rita, he attended Deptford High School and graduated from Glassboro State College with a B.A. in criminal justice. Himes was a career law enforcement officer who retired from his job at the courthouse in Woodbury, NJ, in 2014. Before his death, Himes spent time with his companion, Denise D’Agostino, and had been looking forward to the birth of his first grandson.

An interment ceremony, officiated by Rev. Piotr Szamocki will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery and Mausoleums, 240 Lower Landing Rd, Blackwood, NJ.

I  believe that we all have a purpose in life and when it is completed, God calls us home. So sorry your father is no longer here to enjoy you and your family and soon to be the newest memeber, your child. May he rest in peace.

Rita (husband Brian), & Tommy,
Your Dad is in his forever home, with loved ones who preceded him. This means he is in a ” Perfect Peace “, inconceivable to us on earth. Find comfort in this. You are dearly loved niece & nephew. Aunt Mary

We would like to send our sincerest condolences out to Thomas’s family and friends. Thomas, we only met two or three times, but you were a very nice man to us and you made one amazing daughter! I am lucky to call her one of my closest friends and I know you will look down on her and your grandchildren with love and admiration. We will always remember ghost hunting with you in Gettysburg. What a fun night that was! May you Rest In Peace.
