Thomas E. Kensey, 69

Thomas E. Kensey, 69, of Lancaster and formerly of Willow Grove, passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Martin and Alice (Boland) Kensey. Tom was the loving husband of Paulette (Karsch) Kensey for 45 years.

Tom graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote and earned his BA in Business from La Salle University. He served in the US Air Force as a SSGT during the Vietnam War. Tom worked for Prudential Insurance in Fort Washington as a systems analyst for 25 years. In retirement he owned New Hope Computer Store.

He was a member of St. David Catholic Church in Willow Grove and attended St. Richard Catholic Church in Manheim.

Tom’s passion was soccer, having coached his kids in youth soccer and then attended their games and practices as a soccer parent. He always wore his Philadelphia Union soccer hat. He was an avid stamp and coin collector.

Tom loved his family. No matter how sick he was Tom always put on a good face for his grandchildren.

Surviving Tom in addition to his wife Paulette are their four children, Matt Kensey, husband of Jen of Lititz, Doug Kensey, husband of Shirley of Manheim, Kate, wife of Brandon Burkett of Wrightsville, and Sarah, wife of Phil Ludwig of Leola; nine grandchildren, Emma, Evan, Gregory, Camille, Nicole, Alyssa, Abigail, Marshall and Lincoln; three brothers, Dennis, Don and Jack Kensey; and his father’s wife Yvonne Kensey.

A funeral mass will take place 11 AM Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Richard Catholic Church, 201 Adele Ave., Manheim, PA 17545, with Rev. Stephen D. Weitzel as Celebrant. The viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Please omit flowers.
