Spyros I. Tsoflias, 64

Spyros I. Tsoflias 78, of Lancaster died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  He was married to Kalliopi (Ganginis) Tsoflias on October 16, 1955, and this past October they celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary.

Spyros was born in St. George Sykousis, Chios, Greece and was the son of the late Ioannis and Evangelia (Atonis) Tsoflias.

Before coming to the USA he owned and operated his own trucking company on the island of Chios.  Spyros trade as a shoemaker is what was the catalyst that brought him to America in 1969.  He also served in the Greek Navy.

Spyros was always trying to achieve the American Dream which he accomplished first by working at Alumax, then using his entrepreneurial skills, owned and operated Spyros Confectionary at Lime and Frederick Streets, and also successfully acquiring real estate.

Spyros is a member of the St. George Skyovsis Society and a member of the Order of the Alhepa Red Rose Chapter of Lancaster. He enjoyed gardening, traveling to Chios, Greece, socializing with friends and especially spending time with his eleven grandchildren.  Spyros was also an accomplished musician, playing accordion in a Greek band in Chios.

Surviving besides his wife, he was a beloved father to three children: John S. Tsoflias, husband of Artemis of Lititz; Peter S. Tsoflias, husband of Maria of Lancaster; and Evangelia, wife of Gary G. Efstration of Lititz; eleven grandchildren: Kaliope, Speros, Peter, George, Spyros, Antoni, Kyriaka, Manoli, Louka, Michael and Kalliopi; one sister Stamatia Vafeas of St. George Sikousis; and two nephews, Dr. John Vafeas of Lancaster and Pantelis Vafeas of Chios.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 18,2007 at 11:30 a.m. from Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA.  Viewing times are Sunday 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the chuch with the Trisagion Service at 8:00 p.m. A second viewing will be held on Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at Conestoga Memorial Park.
