Sieglinde “Siggi” Confer, 80

Sieglinde “Siggi” Confer, 80, passed away at her East Petersburg home on April 25, 2019 with husband Howard by her side, knowing that she will be with her Lord and Savior. She was under the care Hospice & Community Care. Born September 24, 1938 in Friedberg, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Lorenz and Anna (Poxleitner) Mutzel.

Siggi and her husband US Army Sgt. Howard H. Confer were married in Germany on March 28, 1966, and moved with her husband and daughter Susan to the US in 1967. When Howard was stationed in Texas, Siggi received her citizenship in 1969.

While Howard was in the military for 20 years, she worked at Post Exchange Stores and volunteered at the Post Housing Office and Thrift Shops. Siggi worked in the baking department for a local grocery store while Howard served in Vietnam. After military life, she volunteered at a local hospital.

After moving to Lancaster in 1999, she volunteered at Lancashire Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Later she started her own jewelry business, designing and making the jewelry. Half of her sales went to support children orphanages in Africa.

Siggi enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and quilting, and working outside in her flower and vegetable garden. She enjoyed vacationing at Williamsburg, VA, and Lake Lure, NC. She attended Lake View Bible Church and watched John Hagee and Shepherd’s Chapel.

Surviving Siggi are her husband Howard of East Petersburg, daughter Susan Confer of Lakeland, FL, son Manuel Mutzel of Germany, sister Evelyn Everle of Germany, sister-in-law Rebecca Confer of Neffsville, nephew Bradley Confer, husband of Elizabeth, and their children Tyler, Liam and Nora of Lewisburg, and her niece Emilie, wife of Derrick Thomas of Lancaster. In addition to her parents, Siggi was preceded in death by her son Michael Mutzel and brother-in-law Francis Confer.

Siggi’s family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, followed by a celebration of her life at 11 AM with Rev. John Collins officiating, on Saturday, May 18th at Lake View Bible Church, 383 Lake View Dr., Manheim, PA 17545. Private inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a memorial contribution to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

our condolences to you and Susie. We pray that our Lord brings both of you the much-needed peace during this sad time. We are thankful for Siggi’s precious friendship and her contagious faith in Christ. And we are full of hope to meet her again in the Father’s house.
