Sharry Ann Kiehl, 72

January 02, 2015

Sharry Ann Kiehl, 72, passed unexpectedly on Friday, January 2, 2015 into her eternal rest. Sharry was the daughter of the late David B. and E. Lorraine Greiner. Sharry’s dad, a WWII Veteran, passed away in 1974; Sharry’s mom passed away in April 2008. Sharry was the adoring wife of Edwin Kiehl, with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2014.

In addition to her loving husband, Sharry is survived by her son, Jim Kiehl, husband of Nancy of Burlington, MA and her daughter Wendy, wife of Ryan Hoyer of Lititz, PA. Also surviving is her aunt, Dorothy Zook of Lebanon, PA.

A devoted wife, loving mother and grandma, “Gram’s” life was deeply enriched by her grandchildren: Malorie and Emily Kiehl of Burlington, MA; Rebecca, Joshua, and Rachel Hoyer of Lititz.

Sharry graduated from Warwick High School in 1960 and Millersville University in 1964, earning a degree in elementary education. She was a first grade teacher and later a reading specialist in the Manheim Township School District, where she retired after 35 years of dedicated service.

Sharry’s hobbies included cooking, sewing, and camping. Sharry’s loving personality and unfailing sense of humor will be deeply missed by many friends and extended family members. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Sharry to Hospice of Lancaster County (685 Good Drive; P.O. Box 4125
Lancaster, PA 17604-4125) or Moravian Manor Memorial Fund (300 West Lemon Street; Lititz, PA 17543.)

Sharry’s family is standing on the promise of Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me like down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters… Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Her husband, children, and grandchildren invite you to a celebration of Sharry’s life on Tuesday, January 6 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory at 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 with a 3-4 PM visitation followed by a memorial service beginning at 4 PM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Dear Ed and family,
I was so shocked and saddened to see Sharry’s beautiful smile on the obituary page of the newspaper!  Sharry was one of the most lovely people I have ever known.  She was always enjoying life and sharing that joy with everyone around her.  I know that she is with the angels in heaven now, but she was one of those angels sent to walk among us for a while.  What a blessing to have shared 50 years with the love of her life and the joy and pride that grew with and in her children and grandchildren.  May it comfort you to know the great joy she brought to others and that you brought to her!   We will keep you in our prayers.  Remember that you will be joined again in heaven.  : )
With sincere sympathy,   Jane (Smith) and Bob Kilefner

To Sharry’s family,
Sharry always had a great, big smile on her face. My fourth grade students loved to go to reading support with Mrs. Kiehl because she made learning fun for them, and they knew she cared about them.  I am so sorry for your loss.  May you have comfort and peace in the coming days.

Dearest Ed, Jim, Wendy, and family,We were so saddened by the loss of your precious Sharry, Mom, Grams.  Sharry was such a truly, special gift!  Her laughter was contagious, along with her warm heart.  Sharry and Ed were our favorite neighbors.  One on our greatest memories was the Johnny-Jump-Up flower secret between Alexis and Sharry.  Mark and I are honored that we were present at Sharry and Ed’s 50th wedding anniversary.  Their life together was truly a love story.  Please know you’re in our hearts and prayers.  Cherish and treasure all the memories.  Our Heartfelt Sympathy and Love, Pam and Mark Early

Ed, Jim, Wendy, and the rest of the family,
I was shocked when I read Sharry’s obituary yesterday morning after not getting to Sunday’s paper until then. Had I not had a doctor’s appointment today, I would have stopped by to offer my condolences. I so remember your entire family as you, Jim and Wendy, were my excellent, personable, respectful students. I remember your parents, especially your mom, at Parents Night and at other school activities. Because your mom was a teacher also, she and I freely discussed the importance of our roles in the classroom. I am also certain that she was a terrific mom because of all of your accomplishments years ago and to this present day. I am so sorry for this unexpected loss. I have borne the same and can truly empathize with all of you. Please know that I am keeping you in my prayers and hoping that sweet memories of your mother can somewhat balance your grief at this time. God bless her soul.
With sincere sympathy,
Deann Buffington (formerly Showers)

Nancy and I are deeply saddened to hear of Sharry’s sudden passing and offer our heartfelt condolences to Ed and family.
We are so pleased that we did have a September get-together (mini-Kiehl-reunion) with Sharry and Ed; Ed’s sister Ann and Mike; and Barb and Irv (my brother). It was a delightful visit with Sharry and Ed et al in their lovely new home. We shared photos and memories and the visit itself shall be one of our treasured memories.
Our thoughts and prayers shall be with Ed and family.
Blessings,
Nancy and Bob Kiehl

Dearest Friends – Our hearts ache over this great loss.  Sharry brought joy and a sprit of unselfish giving to everything she embraced…from teddy bears, to cooking, to painting, to teaching reading, to cheering at sporting events and sharing stories.  Please remember the promise in John 14:1-3 stated by Jesus Christ: “Let not your heart be troubled….I go to prepare a place for you…that where I am, you may be also.”  Thank you for sharing Gram with all of us.  Laurabeth, Jeff, Hayleigh and Deacon
