Serafin Thomas Vieira, 84

April 22, 2017

Serafin Thomas Vieira, 84 of Lititz, PA passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born on April 29, 1932 in Mineola, NY, he was the son of the late Domingas and Henrietta ( Kenski) Vieira. He was the husband of Madeline Helen (O’Brien) Vieira, of Keystone Villa, for 59 years.

Serafin spent his childhood years in Bayonne and Jersey City, NJ where he attended Snyder High School. He got his first job as a machine mechanic for RCA. Within a short time, he was drafted during the Korean War and stationed in Japan where he proudly served our country in the United States Army. He returned home and worked for RCA, GE, and Thomson Consumer Electronics over a period of 40 years. Starting out as a mechanic at RCA, “Serf’ later became a marketing executive in the picture tube division. He did this by working during the day to provide for his young family while attending classes at night at Seton Hall University where he earned his Bachelors degree in marketing. He was the first in his family to receive a college degree. Combining his mechanics background and executive experience, Serafin traveled internationally for RCA to help manufacturing plants run more efficiently.

Most importantly, Serafin was devoted to his family. He openly displayed his love for family with strong hugs and kisses. He impressed upon his children the value of education as well as encouraging independence, hard work, and respectfulness toward others.
Serafin enjoyed fishing, boating, and golfing. He also loved reading and watching movies.

ln addition to his loving wife, Madeline, he is survived by his two children, Thomas S. Vieira, husband of Christine of Lititz, PA and Madeline G. Aldridge, wife of Randall Aldridge of Austin, TX, three grandchildren, Thomas M. Vieira of Lititz, P& Laura M. Aldridge, and Sarah K. Aldridge both of Austin, TX, and one sister, Kathleen Zito of Reno, NV. Serafin was preceded in death by two siblings, Richard Vieira and Virginia Rice.
Serafin was a member of St. James Catholic church of Lititz, PA.

Tom, I was saddened to hear about your father. Although I only met him a couple of times, I remember him as a kind man with a quick wit.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.   Keith Herrick

My Condolences to Madeline, Tom, and Sissy, I am so sorry for your loss. He was a good man and a wonderful dad to Tom and Sissy. He was full of hugs and kisses for everyone. He always had a smile on his face, and he was always happy.  He always tried to make me laugh and tell me about his army stories. Bless your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Viera family. Serf was a good friend, and we had a good relationship working together at RCA. He often visited my office to chat. He was a good man and deserves his reward.   John J. Heine
