Sam Earl Masters, 85
Sam Earl Masters (formerly Mastromatteo), 85, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Sam’s wife Dorothy Davis Masters died Saturday, January 29, 2011. He was born in Lititz to the late Michael and Angelina DiNunzio Mastromatteo.
Sam served in the US Navy during World War II as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class onboard the USS Ranger. In civilian life Sam was a jeweler in Palm Beach, FL at Cartier Jewelers and Hamilton Jewelers.
Survivors include Sam’s daughter, Allison Perez (Teddy); granddaughters, Megan and Nicole Washam; siblings, Michael and Eddie Mastromatteo, Sister Vivian Mary Mastromatteo C.S.C. and Ida Maio (Pat); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Pasquale, Richard and Nicholas Mastromatteo, Martha Benner, Frances Maio, Mary Case and Gilda Henry.
The Mass of Christian Burial for both Sam and Dorothy will be held TODAY, February 2, 2011 at 12 NOON at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 201 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with The Rev. Daniel Mitzel as Celebrant. Friends can greet Sam and Dorothy’s family and also view Dorothy at the church TODAY from 11 AM to 12 PM. Sam’s Interment will be private. Contributions can be made in Sam’s memory to the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice Unit, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
