May 10, 2018

Ruth C. Hassinger, 96, of Willow Street, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Willow Valley Arbor View. Born in Huntingdon, PA, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur F. and Mildred (States) Corbin, and the beloved wife of the late Philip J. Hassinger, Sr., who passed away in 1999.
Ruth worked as a bank teller and later as a bookkeeper for First Federal Savings and Loan for more than 13 years, but devoted most of her time to her family and home. In later years, she became an avid card player and enjoyed painting. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 79, Frederick, MD, and was also a member of Hamilton Park United Church of Christ.
Surviving are her children: Nancy L. Bricker and her husband James of Galena, MD; Linda A. Cluck and her husband James of Lancaster; and Philip “Jay” Hassinger, Jr. and his wife Kathryn of York. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters Helen Kyper and Jane “Sally” Kyper, and a brother Jack Corbin.
A Memorial Service in Ruth’s honor will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Hamilton Park United Church of Christ, 1210 Maple Avenue, Lancaster, PA, 17603, where the family will receive guests beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth’s memory may be offered to the Women’s Care Center, P O Box 1621, York, PA 17405.
