Rose P. Tretter, 100, of Oak Leaf Manor, Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, passed away on July 4th, 2015 at Maple Farms in Akron. Rose was born in Lancaster and was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Teresa (Voci) Spadea. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday on March 2, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Louis DiSilvestra in 1961. She is survived by her husband John B. Tretter of 45 years.
She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Rose’s employment consisted of two Lancaster businesses, Keppel’s Candy and the Hubley Toy Company, and she retired from RCA.
She loved visiting Atlantic City, NJ, playing bingo, cooking Italian dishes, and most of all spending time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are two daughters; Roseann Bozochovic, wife of William G., of Lancaster, Jean L. Vinelli, wife of James M., of Manheim, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, a step daughter, Doreen Putney, wife of Barry, of Jacksonville, NC, a step son, Douglas Tretter, husband of Kathy, of Ephrata, and three sisters, Josephine Shenk, Joan Matthews, and Catherine Fenninger. She was preceded in death by John, Dominic, Joseph, Filomena, Marrianna, and Mary.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 1PM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601 with The Rev. Dr. David Danneker as Celebrant. A viewing will be held in the chapel at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pike on Thursday from 11AM-12:30PM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA 745 W. Governor Rd. Hershey, PA 17033 or Labrador Retriever Rescue Inc. PO Box 246 Palmyra, PA 17078.
