Mr. Smith was a great teacher. My favorite memory of being in his class was when he had his first child and he brought bubble gum cigars and handed them out to his classroom for a celebration. When I worked at Puff n’ Snuff he would come in and say hello buy a lottery ticket and off he went. Never stayed long but always said hello and asked how my family was doing and if my husband Denny(Moe) Heaster was there would share a few jokes with each other. He was a wonderful teacher and he will be missed. My prayers to the family and may God give you the strength and comfort you need to get through this time.

I was one of his students for 6th grade. I had just moved to town and felt a bit alone. He was the only teacher who took his time to welcome me to the new town. He was always hard on homework but he always found a new way of explaining it so every student understood what they were doing. I nominated him for the best teacher award and they apparently read the letter to him and when he pulled me aside to thank me I thought I was in trouble. He was such an amazing person, teacher, and friend. I will always remember him. My heart goes with all of his family at this time. He truly made an impact on this world, and heaven gained a powerful angel with him.
All my prayers,

Sending prayers of peace to all of you. Please know many of us in the MU School District are thinking of your family and praying for you during this difficult time.
Ron taught for some time with my/our dad, Chester Creitz, @ Mt. Union Elementary.  I knew Ron as a friend, and also later as a teaching colleague.  He always had a joke to share with everyone!

Mrs. Smith, Nicole, Brian, and Family,
I was saddened to learn of Mr Smith’s passing.  He was a great teacher, coach, scout leader, and person.  I, along with many good friends, had Mr Smith during the 1970 – 1971 school year which was his 2nd year of teaching 6th grade at the Mount Union Elementary School and he was 23 years old at the time.  He had great enthusiasm for the kids in his class and we enjoyed every day of school with him.  I worked with him later at Seven Mountains Scout Camp when he brought his Webelos there and it was always good to see him.  My Mother also taught school with him.  I extend my condolences to the Family and I know he is at peace.
God Bless,
Mark Tree

Ron was a warm and friendly high school classmate. It was so wonderful to see him and his warm smile when we celebrated at the DuBois Class of 1965 70th Birthday Party just a month ago. I recall that he was an asset to our wrestling team. I know his family, friends, past students and community will miss him and I offer my condolences to all.
