Robert R. Bensinger, Jr., 75
Robert R. Bensinger, Jr., 75, of Lancaster, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late Robert R. Bensinger, Sr. and Loretta (Hosler) Bensinger. Robert was the husband of Jacquelyn Way with whom he celebrated 21 years of marriage.
Robert was a 1955 graduate of Tamaqua High School. He attended HACC, Harrisburg Campus for 2 years. He served in the US Army as a military police officer in Korea. Robert was a retired police officer with 25 years of service with the Lancaster City Police Force. He was a member of the American Legion of Lancaster, the Mount Joy Sportsman Club, the Fraternal Order of Police and Planet Fitness. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, traveling with his wife and loved his pets.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Jacquelyn, are his 4 children: William Bensinger (Eva) of Illinois, Robert R. Bensinger, III of Lititz, Diane Bensinger of Lancaster, and James Bensinger of Mechanicsburg; 3 grandchildren; 3 step-children: Stephanie Reif (Michael) of Manheim, Karen Bennett of Willow Street and Stephen Borchick of Landisville; 5 step-grandsons; and 3 siblings: Verna Raven of Kentucky, Merwin Bensinger of Wernersville and Eileen Bensinger of Tamaqua.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 North George Street, Millersville, PA 17551. Family and friends will be received from 9:30-11AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert’s name to ORCA, Organization for Responsible Care of Animals, 610 North Lime Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. To Aunt Jackie,
Uncle Bob was always a pleasure to see at the Christmas parties, summer picnics and many other events. I looked forward to seeing you both when I attended a get together. I enjoyed going fishing and to the casino. I am here and willing to help you whenever you need. Know that you have my deepest condolences and love.

We are very sorry about Robert. It was such a shock to us. The last time we saw him in the office he said that he was doing well and felt good. He always had a great attitude and a smile. We will miss his visits.
