Robert L. Tshudy, 56

Robert L. “Bob” Tshudy, 56 of Leola entered into rest peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2006 at home after a courageous fight against a rare type of cancer. He is survived by his dedicated wife Kathy J. (Maser) Tshudy; grandson Everett D. Johnson, who he raised as his own son; and stepson Francis Seidle, husband of Michelle. Also surviving are his parents, Robert O. and Dora Elizabeth “Betty” (Shirk) Tshudy of New Holland; sister Susan, wife of Rob Gabriel, Brickerville; brothers Ron Tshudy, New Holland and Jeff Tshudy, husband of Cindy, Ephrata; and three step grandchildren. He will be affectionately missed by many friends and family, as well as his beloved Cairn Terriers Sophie and Sara.

Bob was born in Lancaster and raised in New Holland where he graduated from Garden Spot High School. He was also a graduate of DeVry Technical Institute.

Prior to his illness, he was employed by D&E Communications as the Emergency 911 Engineering Coordinator. He was a 28-year retiree of Frontier Communications where he had several roles throughout his telecommunications career.

Bob loved life. He spent many weekends as a “soccer dad” following Everett and his traveling team. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and enjoy the company of his friends at his cabin in Clinton County. A longtime member of the Lancaster Ski Club, Bob loved to travel internationally and closer to home where he enjoyed the challenges of the slopes and moguls. He shot competitively and was an expert marksman. Bob was a firm believer that people who hunted should have great respect for firearms and their proper use; for 18 years was a Hunter Trapper Education Instructor with the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Friends and relatives are invited to share in an uplifting celebration of Bob’s life on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz. Calling hours begin at 5 p.m. The service will be held at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Lancaster County or Coleman Memorial Chapel, Brickerville.
