Robert L. Fish, III, 67

March 04, 2019

Robert L. Fish, III, 67, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019. He was the husband of Teri A. Finger Fish, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage this past September 1st. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lt. Col. Robert L. Fish Jr. and the late Helen Byers Fish.

Bob had worked for ALCOA as a metal fabricator and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) in Lancaster. He was a very talented carpenter and was always involved with side jobs in construction and remodeling. He loved doing home improvements and had the touch for making things look great.

He loved music and it was a huge part of his life. A drummer, Bob had played with several Lancaster based bands such as Embers and Big Deal and he traveled up and down the East Coast performing in the 1970s and 1980s. He enjoyed sharing music with others, not just on the stage but making CDs for others to enjoy. He particularly loved soul, reggae, and R&B.
A proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, he served during the Vietnam War in the First Marine Division in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge, he continued to serve with the PA Army National Guard for over 19 years total until his retirement. He was a member of the Lancaster AmVets and the VFW.

He was the life of the party, always made others smile; his family and friends were of great importance to him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepchildren, all of Lancaster: Rona L. married to William Trout, James R. married to Christine Hogentogler, and Kyle Shenk; his 2 grandchildren Jordan Hogentogler and Emily Giffen; and his sister, Donna Shissler of Florida. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Leigh Fish and his sister, Barbara Bailey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Time of Sharing Gathering for Robert L. Fish III on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 1PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Please consider coming and sharing a special story and this special man and celebrating his life. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Bob’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 to Bob’s Account ID 11576425.

I never got to know you until later in life but when we actually met, we became best friends.  We will miss you at the gym.  Even though you were sick, you always went and tried.  You’re my hero, Fish.  You never complained even when your health deteriorated.  You truly are Recon.  Until we meet again, Your Bro John Mastromatteo   PS Say Hi to Jimmy for me.  My sincere condolences to Terri and family for your loss.
