Robert K. Beach, Sr., 84

Robert Kimber Beach Sr., 84, of Millersville died Friday, June 11, 2010 at The Glen at Willow Valley.

Born in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late Kimber and Lydia Shoop Beach. He married Edna Grace Heiser, August 29, 1947 in Philadelphia.

Mr. Beach served during World War II as a pharmacist’s mate with the U.S. Navy’s 140th Construction Battalion in the South Pacific. After the war, he attended Pierce Business College in Philadelphia.  He joined Philco in early 1950s and by the mid-60’s was Philco- Ford’s Director of Far East Operations based (with his family) in Bangkok, Thailand. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1969, Mr. Beach was named Vice President of Domestic and International Marketing Operations for Ford Aerospace, based in Washington, D.C. After retirement from Ford Aerospace in 1990, he worked as a marketing consultant and in several executive positions for Yamada Corp.

A devout born- again Christian, Mr. Beach gave his time and talents to God’s work through the Gideons, Grace Reformed Episcopal Church in Glenolden, PA, St. Philips Reformed Episcopal Church in Warminster, PA, Belle View Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA, and Millersville Bible Church. He loved being a witness about his faith in Christ.

Mr. Beach always enjoyed time with his extensive family and his friends. His overseas travels took him too many of the nations in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Central America and South America. His leisure pursuits included golf, reading, rousing games of Scrabble, UNO and Yahtzee, football, and family vacations to the Outer Banks and Hilton Head.

Survivors include his wife, seven children: Robert Jr. husband of Debra Beach, Lansdowne, PA, John husband of Phyllis Stahl Beach, Columbus, IN, David husband of Kimberly Maricich Beach, Gambrills, MD, Mark husband of Naomi Beach, Geneva, Switzerland, Charles husband of Laura Beach, Oakton, VA, Deborah wife of Frank Angilletta, Spotsylvania, VA, Grace wife of Kent Kelly, Warrenton, VA, twelve grandchildren: April, Robert, Francis, Kate, Brianna, Dana, Elliot, Audrey, Somer, Ben, Wesley and Joe, one brother, Richard husband of Dorothy Beach, Ephrata, PA, two sisters: Betty Smith, Lancaster and Margaret Baxley, Cupertino, CA.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Jack, Chet, Bill Beach and a sister, Helen Schickley.

A Memorial Service will be held at Millersville Bible Church, 1940 New Danville Pike, and Lancaster, PA on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:00AM. The family will greet family and friends after the service.
