Robert G. Mallery, 93

February 26, 2020

Robert G. Mallery, 93, went to be with the Lord on February 26 at Brethren Village, Lititz, PA, where he shared his life with his wife, Joan Cleary, from Manchester, England. They met while stationed in Italy during World War II and were married 72 years.

Robert was a graduate of Hancock Central School, Hancock, NY. He was a longtime member of the Rotary and American Hardwood Association, and also joined the Young President’s Organization around 1966. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world with the group, and enjoyed the many friendships made with other business colleagues. Robert was an avid stock trader, and when he caught on to the computer at the age of 70, a new exciting world of day-trading opened up. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family. Robert was an active member of Heritage Baptist Church, Clarks Summit, PA.

After returning to the states from his service, he and Joan married and started his own business. He built two successful hardwood lumber mills, one in Hancock, NY and one in Emporium, PA. After those successes, he helped build two more lumber mills (RAM Forest Products and RGM Hardwoods) with his sons, Robert A. Mallery of Shinglehouse, PA, and Patrick Mallery of Moscow, PA who survive. Also surviving are two more sons, Stephen Mallery and George Mallery of Eugene, OR, and a daughter, Barbara Clontz, of Lititz, PA. He is also survived by his brother, John of Allegheny, PA, and a sister, June of Chula Vista, CA, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11AM, Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Heritage Baptist Church, 415 Venard Rd., Clark Summit, PA 18411. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AMG International by visiting: https://amginternational.org/give/ or to Heritage Baptist Church at the above address.

Please accept our deepest condelences from Chattanooga, Tennessee on behalf of myself and AMG. Your parents were always very dear to us. They were always such great friends of the ministry. I will always treasure the memory of visiting with them in their home several years ago. It was a special time for me visiting this sweet couple. Bob is now enjoying the presence of His precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and we look forward to reuniting with him one day.May the Lord be with you and your entire family at this time, and fill you with His peace and comfort.

Pork;
 Sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I don’t know how he put up with us as we prowled around the mill in Hancock as little kids. Take care. Ozzie

We were saddened to hear of Bob’s homegoing though I am certain that he is glad to be with his Lord. I had many wonderful hours with Bob talking about stocks, future things, investing in the Lord’s work, and computers. He was a good man who loved his family and the Lord very much. He will be missed.
Blessings on all of you in this time of your loss.

Dear Mallery Family,
We send our condolences to the entire Mallery family.
Bob’s passion for producing the finest Hardwood lumber in the most efficient will always be his legacy.
I had the honor and privelege of working for Bob.  He was a humble, inspiring leader.  I wish I would have had the opportunity to visit with him in his retirement but I doubt that was a term he used very often.
We hope to see you at Bob’s Life Celebration service.
May God bless and encourage you all.

To all of my cousins in the Robery Mallery family, our deepest sympathies. I have known Bob (my first cousin) and wife Joan since I was a young child. They were best friends of my older brothers Richard and Donald (both are greeting Bob in heaven). I remember the Seymour-Day reunions where Bob would take on anyone in a game of horseshoes and throw ringer after ringer until they were beaten. My brother and I were able to tour several of the sawmills that he developed. A good man to be sure.

It was my great priviledge to be employed by Mr. Mallery (everyone called him “RG”) during his time of partial ownership at RAM Forest Products.  He was a fair, honest and extremely knowledgeable lumberman.  Many of the things he told me and taught me still ring in my ears from time to time.  May God bless his eternal rest and bring comfort to his family.
