Rita E. Lichty, 92

Rita E. Lichty, 92, of Lancaster, PA passed away at Conestoga View on December 24, 2008. She was born in Lancaster on August 31, 1916 to the late Anthony and Catherine (McCarthy) Lichty.

Rita grew up in the Cabbage Hill area of Lancaster City on Lafayette St. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church as a child and later became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School.

Rita worked for 37 years for Watt & Shand as a sandwich maker at the department stores’ well known Rendezvous Restaurant.

Rita loved going to the movies. She worked at the old Strand Cinema, where she handed out programs and attended many movies. She also loved watching TV and going to shows in Manhattan. Her main love in life was her nieces and nephews who she cared so much for.

Rita is survived by nephews Clement O. Lichty of Lancaster, Richard E. Lichty of Elizabethtown, Thomas A. Lichty of York, and nieces Mollie Fahnestock of Coatesville, and Peggy Lichty of Mt. Gretna. She is also survived by Harry “Sonny” Black of Lakeview, Washington, Robert Black of Lancaster and Jackie Black Schlager of Lancaster.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Rita’s Mass of Christian Burial from Sacred Heart Catholic Church 558 W. Walnut St. Lancaster, PA on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11am with Rev. Michael J. Grab as Celebrant. Friends may pay their respects to the family at the church from 10-11am. Memorial contributions in Rita’s memory may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will take place from St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements made by the Charles F.
