Richard E. Luger, 89
Richard E. Luger, 89, of 329 Wickshire Circle, Lititz, died Friday evening at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.
He was the husband of Ellen L. Smith Luger, with whom he celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this past October 1st.
Born in Minneapolis, MN, Richard was the son of the late Maximillian and Elizabeth (Craig) Luger.
Richard had worked for the New Holland Machine Co. from 1951 until his retirement in 1972. Following his retirement, he moved to Florida and operated his sport fishing charter boat, “Lazy Bones”, from Bahia Mar, Ft. Lauderdale, with his son, Eugene.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters: Elizabeth married to Lewis Fisher of Avon, MN, Gretchen Valudes of Lititz, and Susan married to David Welch of Stuart, FL; 9 grandchildren: Kelly Fisher Moss, Dick Fisher, Mark Fisher, Sandra Deeds, Ellen Valudes, Diane Valudes McKissick, Michael Valudes, Lance Welch, and Chad Welch; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine Torres of Seal Beach, CA. he was preceded in death by: 2 daughters, Judith A. Luger and Ellen A. Luger, 2 sons: Eugene P. and Richard C.; and by a brother, Robert Luger.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 1-1:30PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the memorial service to follow at 1:30PM. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
