Richard B. Nissley

Richard B. Nissley, aged 83 years, of Lancaster, PA, passed away quietly on Wednesday, June 14, 2006. He was born on February 7, 1923 to Charles Q. and Hildegarde Nissley of Lancaster. His beloved wife, Fay, who died at age 69 in 1995, preceded him in death. They had been married for 49 years.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Ann Nissley of Harrisburg, and Patricia Elaine, wife of Richard Nauman of Lancaster, and by a granddaughter, Jennifer Foster, wife of James of Lampeter.

His 3 brothers, George, Raymond, and Eugene, also preceded him in death. He is survived by 2 brothers, Robert of West Virginia, and Charles Jr. of Texas.

Richard retired from PP&L in 1983 after 39 years of service. He served for many years as an EMT for the Leola and Manheim Township Ambulance Service, was a certified State CPR Instructor, Fire Policeman, and Fire and Police Commissioner of Lancaster County.

He loved to paint landscapes on canvas and do woodcraft, and was an avid collector and reader of old Western novels. Richard and his wife had been Jim Beam Bottle collectors and traveled to state and national conferences across the country. They also loved their vacation home in the Poconos and in Florida. He was devoted to his pup and was an avid supporter of the Humane Society of America.

He will be interred at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Charles Rd., Bausman, PA on Thursday at 10AM with a graveside service for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lancaster Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
